10-20
As voted for by you lot:
11. Kilamangiro - Babyshambles
Pe Do's second outing in the Library and certainly won't be his last. Massive single from the first album 'Down In Albion'. Shambles.
12. Four Kicks - Kings Of Leon
Before they started having fiery sex Kings Of Leon were a bona fide indie rock and roll band what churned out 2 fantastic albums in 'Youth And Young Manhood' and 'Aha Shake Heartbreak'. The rocktastic 'Four Kicks' is my pick of the bunch. Beast.
13. Last Nite - The Strokes
The inventors of modern day indie rock and roll The Strokes with the monster hit that snared me into fandom. Epic.
14. Work - Jimmy Eat World
I just couldn't choose a favourite song from 'Bleed American' so opted for my next favourite JEW song. Big tune.
15. Punk Rock Princess - Something Corporate
After realising a ten year dream and finally getting to see Andrew McMahon play this live, this couldn't not be included. Fantastic.
16. All My Friends Are Metalheads - Less Than Jake
The first headliner I ever saw and a quintesential pop punk classic. Brute.
17. Alison - Elvis Costello
Having grown up listening to Elvis' debut 'My Aim Is True' the 1977 classic, this is the standout track but could easily have been 'Watching The Detectives'. A few years back I picked up the 'Best Of ..' and that has been on heavy play in the Smuts household ever since. Hero.
18. Atlantis To Interzone - Klaxons
Inventors of 'Nu-Rave' and that band that single handedly bought day glo and neon back to the indie masses. This was the first single to break out of 'Myths Of The Near Future' with 'Magick' and 'Golden Skans' well worth a mention. Monster.
19. California - The Kooks*
I first saw The Kooks in a tiny record shop in Nottingham just before 'You Don't Love Me' was released and was mesmorised. I've seen them live a few times since and they don't fail to entertain every time. Failed to recapture the quality of this Mason Jennings cover and my favourite track since but i'll always have a soft spot for Luke and the Kooks. Track.
20. I Won't Spend Another Night Alone - The Ataris
Back in my Pop Punk days on the cusp of and emo revolution, this was THE track. Massive.

*California not available on Spotify, you'll have to make do with 'Eddie's Gun'

The First 10
Ladies and Gentle Spoons, without further ado, the first 10 tracks with automatic entry into Smuts Slots:
1. General Smuts - The Libertines.
My theme song by the band that started it all for me. A little heard B-side from the 2003 single 'Time For Heroes' and Pete and Carl at their best.
2. Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now - The Smiths
As a child I was taught to love The Smiths and this is my favourite Smiths track. Morrissey at his lyrical best.
3. Boy's Don't Cry - The Cure
This song came on my iPod as I rode my bike home from being dumped by my first long term girlfriend. At the time I was into being 'emo' and any song that transforms you back to a particular time in your life is special. Obviously this isn't a particularly happy memory but then it's not a particularly happy song.
4. We Can No Longer Cheat You - The Cribs
My favourite album of all time and it was almost impossible to choose my favourite track from it. Incredibly close call between this and 'Hello? Oh...', 'Hey Scensters' and 'Martell'. Ultimately I plumped for the song that really got me into The Cribs.
5. Helicopter - Bloc Party
Another very close call, having to pick a favoured track from a brilliant album 'Silent Alarm'. 'Banquet' and 'Luno' were borderline.
6. Witness (1 Hope) - Roots Manuva
I came to love this track late in the day, years after it first came out, having never shown any interest in any music without guitars. To me this is one of those songs where you remember exactly where you were the first time you heard it. Unfortunately I was shitfaced and had to be told about it the next day. Still, excellent track from another excellent album.
7. Konstantine - Something Corporate
For a song pushing the 10 minute mark I can happily listen to this over and over and over and Andrew McMahon is a hero of mine to face the adversity he has and to come ack from it and continue to make the excellent music he does. Later this week I'm off to see Jack's Mannequin live. I cannot wait.
8. Such Great Heights - The Postal Service
Another classic which I came to hear very late on thanks to the film 'Garden State' and the cover by Iron & Wine. Excellent song. Thanks J.D!
9. Six Queens - Larrikin Love
'There's a symphony in my heart and i've lost all my morals'
'I was a boy who yearned to be a cover girl'
All about the lyrics and the music with another of my all time favourite bands. To split after making only one album is a tragedy. Incredible live band too. See, 'Happy As Annie' 'Downing Street Kindling' and 'Edwould' for more Larrikin Lovely goodness.
10. Generator - The Holloways
I've seen The Holloways live more than any other band and I love them. Time will tell if they will be as good without Dave and Rob and whether Alfie and Gwyn keep the tunes coming. I hope so but I just don't think it will be the same. Anyway, Generator had a smattering of chart success but nowhere near as much as it deserved and is a modern day indie classic in my eyes.

Mission Statement
A simple premise for a simpleton. 10 quality tracks each week added to an almighty uber library. Only the very best of indie, electro, britpop, shoegaze and anything else deemed good enough for a slot in this library.
Every month I'll also throw in some of the best new music worthy of inclusion into the uber library.
Rather than doing this alone and risking missing out on some quality tuneage, I want everyone else's input too, so hit me up in the comments section with any suggestions, old or new. I'll give them a thorough listen and if deemed good enough, they get a slot and you can give yourself a well earned, well done pat on the back.
Enjoy!
Peace
